AULE BOSCO
The University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo has chosen to entrust the Stefano Boeri Interiors studio with the assignment of rethinking the University’s old structures and designing new ones. The challenge taken up by Stefano Boeri Interiors is to conceive a structure capable of representing and, at the same time, responding to the needs and methods of the University of Pollenzo, while taking into account the history and peculiarities of the area. The aim is to combine the practical requirements of didactic and productive worlds, with the social, environmental and economic issues that underlie this world and that cannot be ignored today in the formation of a food culture that is not only healthy, but also educated and conscious. Characterised by a strong and rising international attractiveness, UNISG is able to attract students and visiting professors from all over the world, also boasting countless and important collaborations with companies that find space for experimentation and research within the university. Unique in its kind, the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo has distinguished itself, since its origins, for its innovative, interdisciplinary and experiential teaching approach. The studio has designed a variable geometry school with flexible spaces that can be transformed through the presence of adaptable furniture that can be assembled in different configurations. The outdoor spaces will also accommodate the “Aule bosco”, temporary wooden structures so called because they are surrounded by a variety of plants, which will help to ensure the healthiness of the space and a certain privacy. These circular classrooms, characterised by a system of staircase seats, will have various sizes and can be positioned both within the university courtyard and around the city and Piedmont, strengthening the connection and bond between the university and the territory.
